Sericulture Board being through ordinance no. LXII
of 1977 under the caption as "The Bangladesh
Sericulture Board ordinance, 1977", with its
headquarters at Rajshahi which is a silk-dominated
area. Its aim and jurisdiction is to ameliorate the
poverty of t-he severe-poverty-stricken people of
the country by spreading the helping hands towards
those people in the field of offering them technical
know-how, training, financial grants, planning, improved
race of silk-worm, cuttings and saplings of high-breed
mulberry and thus expand and inflate the sericulture
and silk industries of the country. It is headed by
the Chairman, the full-time Chief Executive of this
Board. The Board Parshad of this Board Consists of
the Chairman, 3 permanent members along with 7 nos.
of part-time and ex-officio members. The controlling
and administrative functions of this Board belong
to the Ministry of Textiles & Jute.

Vision
The
vision of the BSB is to promote and expand sericulture
throughout the country with a view to eradicating
the acute poverty of the hardcore people of the rural
Bangladesh.
Mission
Introduction
of high-tech research based HYV mulberry and silk
worm for rapid expansion & promotion of sericulture,
sophistication in technology for reeling silk yarn,
throwing, twisting, weaving, dyeing, printing and
finishing of fabrics through training, awareness build-up,
motivation & supervision.
